Cake Smash Photography

Cake Smash sessions (typically done a couple of weeks before baby's first or second birthday) are around 30 minutes  long. This sounds short, but I promise, we get a LOT done in this amount of time, and (hopefully) avoid an overwhelmed toddler meltdown.  Some babies dive right into a cake, and others absolutely hate it because it's messy. The key with these sessions is making them short and sweet, and capturing their unique way of living this moment! Either way, there are a lot of laughs to be had during a cake smash session. The experience itself is the fun!!

 

I provide everything but the cake (or other food of choice) for my Cake Smash Sessions. This includes a themed or more simple and clean backdrop for your preferred theme (I have over 75 themed drops to choose from), plus any clothing or props for your session (you are of course welcome to bring your own special outfit or props as well, they are your photos)!

Please note that while I have a huge selection of theme options already, I need at least three weeks notice to plan a theme that I don't have available. You can see my currently available themes (as well as clothing) here.  

 

My Cake Smash session includes THREE different setups, and typically starts with basic milestone portraits on a simple background, then we move on to the cake smash itself, and then if parents want, a little splash bath after which is so much fun, but also helps get the sticky frosting off! If you want a family or sibling photo during this session, it is done in place of your splash bath or basic portraits, OR is an additional fee. If you are also celebrating with a Doljabi, Zhuazhou grab, or another birthday tradition, I would love to help you honor that as well.

Looking to do something besides cake? Let's get creative! Pasta, donuts, strawberries, watermelon, lemons, tacos, ribs, steak....  I've done it all! Want to make a mess that doesn't involve food? We can do paint, bubbles, play doh... the sky is the limit!! Wanting to do a cake smash with an older child? I have several themed sets for older kiddos, as well as being able to create something new just for you!
