You've asked for it, it's here! I'm now offering in-studio lifestyle newborn sessions. Rather than focusing on posing, outfit changes, props and flawless editing, I am offering a more laid back, simple newborn session. These sessions are great if you want to focus more on family, or have a newborn that is too old to be posed in more traditional newborn poses.
My lifestyle newborn session is still done in my Burnsville, Minnesota photo studio, but takes place in a mock bedroom space. Everyone wears one outfit, and we focus on emotion, connection and family. Wardrobe is available for babies, moms and older siblings. This style of photos is not able to be combined with traditional posed sessions due to lack of space in the studio.
What is it that you're looking for in a newborn photographer?
Since you're here, you're obviously excited to capture the precious first moments with your baby, and you're learning that there are many different types of Minneapolis Newborn Photographers, with different techniques, styles, and levels of experience. My goal is not to book every newborn session I can fill my books with, rather, I want to work with families who love and connect with my work and style. I am a bit of a hybrid between lifestyle and posed studio newborn photography, and I love capturing tiny details, silly faces, and candid moments, even during my posed sessions. I have spent many hours on safety training, and every pose that baby is gently moved into is safe for their tiny body, and well practiced.
What is your ideal newborn photography session?
I want my clients to come in and feel like they can trust me completely with their most treasured little creation. My years of experience working with newborns, safety training and 'baby whisperer' status will show you that I'm great at my job, and I LOVE my job. You are welcome to sit right by me and watch every moment of our session, or relax on the other side of the room. If you are looking for specific poses, I will happily try them, but I let baby lead the session and will never guarantee one and push a baby into a pose that they aren't comfortable with. Every baby is different, and has unique flexibility, shape, and of course tolerance. Some babies sleep through their entire session, and others are already having FOMO moments, and some absolutely hate being naked or being moved around. All are normal, and all are totally okay. We will always capture perfect photos that are unique to your baby.
What is your style?
Well, I'm personally just addicted to newborn photo sessions. The tiny outfits, headbands, props, textures, bold colors, and warm neutrals - I really love it all. I have invested significantly in my client closet, and I'm always adding to it. I offer my clients as much (or as little) control as they want over the design of their newborn session. I have an elaborate online gallery of props, clothing and accessories to choose from for baby, mom and siblings. While you are welcome and encouraged to bring a special memento or things to represent your culture and life, 98% of what you see in my photos are studio owned items that are able to be used, and the only things you need to bring for your session are a baby and their food supply!

What photos matter to you?
Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, these moments are precious and fleeting, and deserve to be captured! They all tell the story of our lives. While some parents choose to focus entirely on their new baby for these beautiful newborn photos, some want to celebrate with older siblings, grandparents, include their pets, family heirlooms or maybe just a few intimate photos with mom and dad. This is also a wonderful time to celebrate family culture, and I love getting creative with representing your family's legacy.
What else should you consider?
I realize that professional, heirloom quality photos are an investment. I do offer payment plans and am happy to be flexible to ensure you get the photos you want to preserve your family legacy. I am not a high pressure sales photographer. While I DO think that there is a huge value in buying high quality wall art if you're spending money on a luxury session, I do sell digital images and allow you to print your own if you want to. I spend many hours editing each session with love to make skin tones, texture, lighting, etc., perfect yet realistic WITHOUT changing your baby's natural skin tone. My standard turnaround of completed galleries is two weeks after the session.
