About Me
I'm a licensed, insured, and award winning photographer based out of Burnsville, Minnesota. I live with my husband of nearly 20 years, and my amazing kids, 16 and 12. After Covid hit and everyone was stuck at home, I decided that perhaps I was ready to invest in the actual business of photography, and I opened my Burnsville studio in 2021 after being a stay at home mom, foster mom, and nonprofit volunteer for 15 years.

I actually started out on the other side of the lens as a fashion model about 25 years ago, and I loved shooting editorial fashion style photos. I worked with many of the great Minneapolis photographers who all had their own unique style and perspectives they were interested in shooting. As I got older, I traveled the world as a model, working with some of the most talented editorial photographers in the world, such as Manu Cacciaguerra, Patrick Hume, Bruce Weber, Jaisen Tieg Van Holland, John Reed Forsman and Adrian Green.

While my inspiration for perspective and art comes from all of my life experiences and every photographer I have met, my technique and styling is entirely self taught, and I find that I lean heavily towards styling my fine art sessions like some of my favorite master portrait painters such as John Singer Sargent, John William Waterhouse and William-Adolphe Bouguereau, especially when working with my maternity, motherhood and other fine art sessions.

I also continue to constantly invest in improving my work by attending workshops with other photographers, and participating in education groups. I have worked with and learned from child and portrait photographers like Amy McDaniel of DewDrops Photography, Krystal Sandefur, Hello Little Photography, Kelly Brown, and Ana Brandt, as well as fine art maternity and family portrait photographers like Natasha Ince and Paulina Duczman. I love learning and improving on safety, styling, lighting and trying new in-camera techniques. While there is no official certification for newborn photography training, I have completed the APNPI Online Safety Course, which focuses on newborn physiology.

I have won multiple awards as a newborn, maternity and child photographer, such as the AFNS Prime Award, the ICP (International Child Photographer) Award, and have been awarded as a top photographer the past three years in a row by Expertise.com.

I am a big believer in giving back, and I volunteer my time and photography skills for several local animal rescues, and donate several sessions a month to underprivileged families, and children in foster care. I am also a volunteer photographer and digital retouch artist for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization that provides bereavement portraits to families who have suffered the loss of a baby either before or shortly after birth.

When I'm not working, you can find me wandering around outside capturing quiet moments with nature.
